Reader Assistant Service (Beta Testing)

Last updated 3/17/2026

Introduction

Since BookVillage was launched, we have permanently banned dozens of users after detecting that their assignments were being completed by Virtual Assistants instead of the account owners.

We completely understand why many publishers want to delegate this type of task. Publishing requires focus, and delegating repetitive activities can help authors spend more time on the parts of the business that truly matter.

However, the reality we consistently observe is that almost all Virtual Assistants operating in this space rely on reviewer accounts that are already flagged by Amazon for suspicious activity, often related to payment abuse, refund manipulation, or other fraudulent behavior. When these accounts are used to post reviews, it is usually only a matter of days or weeks before the accounts are banned and all their reviews are removed. In some cases, this activity can also negatively affect the trust signals of the KDP accounts involved.

For this reason, we cannot allow external Virtual Assistants to operate inside BookVillage when they rely on unsafe reviewer accounts.

At the same time, many honest publishers have contacted us asking if there is a safe way to delegate assignments without exposing their Amazon account to unnecessary risks.

To address this need, we are now testing a new solution with members of our private Skool community.

The Reader Assistant Service is designed to provide a controlled and safe way to delegate the completion of your BookVillage assignments, allowing you to save valuable time while maintaining the safety standards of the Village and preserving the quality of the reviews you receive.

What We Are Building Behind the Scenes

What you currently see on BookVillage is only the visible layer of what we are building.

Behind the scenes, our team is developing not only new platform features, but also an entirely separate service that will allow publishers to receive reviews by purchasing review packages, without the need to complete assignments themselves.

This system is being built with the same obsessive attention to safety, behavioral patterns, and long-term sustainability that defines the BookVillage ecosystem. Most importantly, it will operate exclusively with Verified Paid Purchase reviews, which remain the most stable and reliable type of review for long-term Amazon compliance.

At the moment, more than 1,000 readers have already joined this initiative, and the system is already in active testing, even though it is not yet publicly visible. The results we are observing are exactly in line with our expectations.

However, the service will only be released publicly once the reader pool becomes large enough to guarantee a meaningful number of reviews across a wide range of niches and book topics.

Because we are already working closely with this growing pool of readers, we selected some of the most reliable profiles among them to participate in the Reader Assistant Service (Beta Test).

This is not called a beta test because the model itself is untested. In fact, around ten of the very first BookVillage users were already able to use this service starting in late January, and the results were exactly as expected.

The reason we are introducing it now as a beta test is simply to present it first to our newly created Skool community and observe whether the structure we are about to explain is clearly understood and accepted before considering a wider public release.

Let’s Look at the Costs

Let’s take a simple example.

Suppose you use BookVillage and complete three assignments per week. Over the course of a month, that corresponds to roughly 13 assignments.

If you divide the current $20 monthly subscription by 13 assignments, the platform itself costs $1.54 per assignment.

If the assignments you complete are Verified Paid Purchases at $0.99, the total cost of completing one assignment becomes $2.53.

In other words, with $2.53 of total cost, you contribute one Verified Paid review and unlock the ability to receive one Verified Paid Purchase review at $0.99 in return.

For the quality and stability of the reviews involved, this is an extremely competitive price. The only real cost required is your time, which is needed to complete the assignments.

When we eventually launch the separate review infrastructure mentioned in the previous section, the economics will naturally be different. Considering management costs, operational overhead, reader coordination, transaction fees, and potential refunds, it will be very difficult to facilitate a Verified Paid Purchase review at $0.99 for less than about $17-18 on average.

Prices may vary slightly depending on several factors, but even at that level it would remain highly competitive within the publishing market.

In fact, if you look at the services currently available, prices often start around $8 per review for reviews posted by questionable or semi-automated accounts, almost always unverified, and can go up to $30 or more per review, again typically for unverified reviews.

One small observation.

It is interesting to notice that almost no one in the industry offers Verified Paid Purchase reviews at scale. That alone might raise a few questions.

For this reason, the goal of the Reader Assistant Service is simple: to give you the possibility to continue receiving high-quality reviews at a price positioned between the two extremes described above, while maintaining the safety standards that define the BookVillage ecosystem.

How the Reader Assistant Service Works

With the Reader Assistant Service, each participating user is assigned a dedicated Reader Assistant.

Every Reader Assistant works with only one user and operates from the same computer, the same IP address, and a controlled technical environment managed directly by our team. This allows us to maintain stable behavioral patterns and apply the same safety precautions that already govern the BookVillage ecosystem.

To delegate your assignments almost entirely, you will need to provide access to an Amazon account. This access is given only to assistants who are directly trained and managed by us, and for whose activity we take full responsibility.

You can choose between two different ways of working with your Reader Assistant.

Option 1 – Full Delegation

You may provide access to your existing Amazon account, or you may create a separate Amazon account specifically for this purpose if you prefer to keep your main account private.

In either case, our Reader Assistants will never interact with anything unrelated to reading and reviewing books.

If you provide access to an Amazon account, you may also decide how purchases are managed. Some users prefer to connect a prepaid card or a low-limit payment method, while others prefer to load Amazon Reload balance directly into the account and then disconnect their card entirely. The account balance can then be used to purchase the eBooks required for the assignments.

Once access is provided, your Reader Assistant will log into your BookVillage account, select assignments according to the instructions you provide, and choose books that match your preferred assignment type. In most cases we recommend Verified Paid Purchase assignments, typically priced at $0.99 or $2.99.

The Reader Assistant will then purchase the book using your Amazon account, read it through Kindle Cloud Reader, and complete the submission process on BookVillage.

At that point, the assistant will send you the review text they wrote. You will simply copy the review and submit it on Amazon from your own account.

For now, the Reader Assistant will not post the review directly on Amazon, as this could conflict with current platform guidelines. However, we are studying ways to simplify or automate this final step in the future.

Option 2 – Assisted Workflow (No Amazon Access)

If you prefer not to provide access to your Amazon account, the Reader Assistant can still manage the majority of the process.

In this case, the assistant will select assignments, read the books, and prepare the review text exactly as in the previous scenario. When the assignment is approaching completion, they will send you the book link and their review.

You will then need to:

• purchase the book yourself
• open and browse the book in Kindle Cloud Reader in the following days
• submit the review on Amazon when completing the assignment

In all cases, the review written by the Reader Assistant is their honest opinion after reading the book. You remain completely free to publish it as is, edit it, or decide not to post it at all.

Full Support at Every Step

For every stage of the process, you will receive direct assistance from our team.

Whether you need help creating a dedicated Amazon account, configuring payment methods, setting up Amazon Reload balance, or resolving any technical doubt, we will guide you step by step.

The same applies if you have specific requests or particular preferences regarding how your assignments should be handled. Since every Reader Assistant works with only one user, the workflow can be adapted to your needs while still respecting the safety rules of the Village.

Available Packages

Regardless of whether you choose Option 1 (Full Delegation) or Option 2 (Assisted Workflow), the cost per Assisted Assignment remains exactly the same.

You are completely free to choose the option that best matches your preferences and the level of access you feel most comfortable with.

The Reader Assistant Service is offered as a subscription that renews every 28 days (exactly four weeks).

At the moment, two packages are available:

Package 1 – 2 Assignments per Week
This plan includes 2 assignments per week, for a total of 8 assignments over 28 days.

Package 2 – 3 Assignments per Week
This plan includes 3 assignments per week, for a total of 12 assignments over 28 days.

You are free to stop the subscription or renew it at the end of each 28-day cycle.

For this beta testing phase, we are offering the service to only 15 users at a special introductory price of $6 per assignment.

This means:

• The 2-assignments-per-week package costs $48 every 28 days
• The 3-assignments-per-week package costs $72 every 28 days

When the service is eventually released publicly, the expected price will likely be around $9 per assignment.

The Reader Assistant Service is primarily designed for users who want to complete Verified Paid Purchase assignments, but you are free to request a mix of assignment types.

For example:

You may ask for 50% assignments at $0.99 and 50% assignments at $2.99, or if you choose the 3-assignments-per-week package, you could request one assignment through Kindle Unlimited, one $0.99 purchase, and one $2.99 purchase each week.

Your Reader Assistant will complete the assignments during the 28-day cycle following the instructions you provide. If you prefer, you can also ask us for guidance and we will gladly recommend the configuration that best fits your goals.

We Like to Run the Numbers

Earlier we saw that when you amortize the BookVillage subscription cost and the $0.99 Kindle purchase, the total cost of completing one assignment comes to $2.53.

If we add the $6 cost of delegating the assignment through the Reader Assistant, the total becomes $8.53 per completed assignment.

In practical terms, this means you can obtain the right to receive one Verified Paid Purchase review from a $0.99 purchase for a total cost of $8.53.

Now let’s briefly compare this with the market.

Many Virtual Assistants currently charge $5 to $6 per review, usually posted from questionable accounts and almost always unverified. These reviews often disappear after a few days and are not accepted inside BookVillage.

Other services charge around $8 per review, again typically for unverified reviews posted by pseudo-readers whose reliability is often unclear.

When you compare the price-to-quality ratio, the difference becomes obvious.

Of course, now that you understand how the process works, you are completely free to hire your own freelancer and train them however you prefer. The only real challenge is finding someone who can both handle the technical precautions required and earn the level of trust necessary to access your Amazon account.

And if that freelancer ends up managing multiple Amazon accounts from the same computer, the same IP address, or from generic VPN environments, it is very unlikely that things will go well in the long run.

But of course, you are free to proceed however you prefer.

In the coming days we will publish a dedicated article explaining how to delegate assignments correctly, for those who prefer to manage the process independently.

However, if you are looking for a solution that allows you to sleep peacefully at night, knowing that everything is handled properly, with zero stress and the same obsessive attention to detail that defines BookVillage, then the solution is simple: The Reader Assistant Service.

Conclusion

You may find it amusing today, but we suspect that the term “Reader Assistant” will soon become a recognizable role across freelancer platforms.

Jokes aside, this beta test is currently limited to only 15 users.

Once these 15 spots are filled, we will notify everyone inside the community.

We are genuinely curious to hear your feedback. Your opinion will help us understand whether this is a service the market truly wants and what aspects could be improved.

If you are interested in joining the beta test, simply send an email to:

with the subject line:

Our team will then guide you through the next steps.
