Promotions vs Assignments: Let’s Clear Things Up

Navigating BookVillage

👋 Dear Villagers,

I’m the Minister of Economy, and today I want to clarify one of the most important (and often misunderstood) concepts in our ecosystem: the difference between Promotions and Assignments.

Spoiler: they’re not separate things—they’re two sides of the same coin.

🏷️ What Is a Promotion?

A Promotion is what an author or publisher activates when they want to give their book visibility within the Village.

📌 Simply put, it means:

“I’m making my book available in the Library to receive reviews from selected readers.”

When an author clicks “Let’s Get Promoted,” they create a Promotion that:

✅ Enters the Library

✅ Becomes visible to compatible readers

✅ Can be reserved by a Village member

📖 What Is an Assignment?

An Assignment is what a reader sees when they reserve a Promotion.

📌 Simply put, it means:

“I agree to read this book and leave an honest review within the given timeframe.”

Every Assignment has:

📅 A completion window (from Day 5 to Day 7 after reservation)

🔗 A final verification stage (the reader pastes the Amazon review link)

🏷️ Types of Promotions and Assignments

BookVillage offers four types to fit different strategies:

✅ Paid Verified ($0.99 or $2.99)

The reader buys the book on Amazon and leaves a review with the Verified Purchase badge.

📌 Ideal for giving more weight and credibility to reviews.

✅ Verified Purchase Free Promo

The reader downloads the book during Amazon’s free promo days and leaves a review still marked as Verified Purchase, because the free download counts as a purchase.

📌 Strategic for launching a book and quickly generating verified reviews.

✅ Kindle Unlimited

The reader reads the book through KU and leaves a non-verified review.

📌 Perfect for books enrolled in KDP Select.

✅ Standard Unverified

The reader receives the book through BookVillage and leaves a non-verified review.

📌 Useful for flexibly increasing your review base.

🌟 The Innovation: BookVillage and Your ARC Team

📌 BookVillage is the first tool in the world to build an Automatic ARC Team for you.

With every promotion you launch, the system dynamically selects and optimizes a group of reliable, interested, and proven readers.

✅ This means faster, more targeted promotions.

✅ No more stress about building email lists or lead magnets manually.

✅ The more you use the Village, the more powerful your ARC Team becomes as an asset for your books.

📢 A heads-up from the Minister of Economy:

We’ll soon publish an article dedicated entirely to the ARC Team—how it works, why it’s revolutionary, and how it becomes your “secret ally” in campaigns.

⏳ Fixed Turnaround: Why It’s Crucial

Every Assignment must be completed between Day 5 and Day 7 after reservation.

⚠️ Why not sooner?

Posting reviews too quickly can:

❌ Draw Amazon’s algorithmic attention

❌ Put your reviewer account at risk

❌ Lead to review removals or account restrictions

📌 Following the fixed turnaround protects not only you but the entire Village.

🔄 Two Sides of the Same Coin

🎯 Author: activates a Promotion to receive reviews

🎯 Reader: reserves an Assignment to contribute and earn the right to future promotions

Every Promotion you launch as an author becomes an Assignment for a reader.

Every Assignment you complete as a reader helps unlock your future Promotions as an author.

📌 It’s a virtuous cycle that keeps the Village healthy, balanced, and always active.

🛡️ Safety First

Every interaction between Promotions and Assignments is monitored to:

• 🚫 Prevent direct or indirect review swapping

• ⏳ Ensure safe timing for your Amazon account

• 🛡️ Protect both authors and readers from abuse or imbalance

📢 A Word From the Minister of Economy

"In the Village, there are no spectators. Everyone is both an author and a reader—and that’s the strength of our ecosystem. With the ARC Team, we’re rewriting the rules of the game."
