👋 Dear Villagers,
I’m the Minister of Economy, and if you’ve received an email notifying you that one of your booked assignments has expired, I’m here to explain what this means, why it happened, and how to prevent it in the future.
📖 What Does “Expired Assignment” Mean?
An assignment expires when you don’t complete the required actions within the timeframes set by the Village.
There are two distinct cases:
🕑 1) You Didn’t Submit Within the Completion Window
📌 After booking an assignment, you have a completion window from Day 5 to Day 7 to read the book and mark in the system that the review has been posted.
If you don’t submit within this interval:
❌ The assignment is automatically canceled
❌ Your contribution will not count toward the balance between assignments and promotions
🚫 2) You Submitted but Didn’t Paste the Amazon Link Within 7 Days
📌 After marking that your review has been posted, you have 7 days to paste the live Amazon review link into BookVillage.
If you fail to provide the link within this period:
❌ The assignment is considered expired
❌ Your contribution will not be counted in this case either
📬 Can I Do Something If I Actually Posted the Review?
📢 Yes, as long as this happens rarely.
If you really posted the review on Amazon but the assignment expired, you can email us to let us know.
✅ Once you send us the live Amazon review link, BookVillage may partially recognize your contribution.
📌 This means your effort won’t be completely wasted and will partially count toward the assignments/promotions balance.
📢 The Minister of Economy reminds you:
"This gesture shows your good faith. In the Village, we value those who act authentically, even when mistakes happen."
🛡️ Why Are These Rules Important?
📢 The Village is built on a balance of “give and receive.”
✅ Every assignment you book is a promise to support another author.
✅ If it’s not completed, it slows down other promotions and risks creating imbalances in the system.
Additionally, respecting the timelines also protects your Amazon account:
📌 Posting reviews all at once or outside the set window increases the risk of Amazon removing them.
🚀 What Happens Now?
No need to panic. An expired assignment does not result in an immediate penalty.
🔸 However, if this happens frequently, the system may temporarily limit your ability to book new assignments to ensure there’s no abuse.
✅ How to Avoid This in the Future?
📌 Some tips from the Village:
✅ Only book assignments when you’re sure you can complete them on time
✅ Use reminders to respect the completion window (Day 5–7)
✅ Paste the Amazon link as soon as the review is live to avoid forgetting it
📢 A Word From the Minister of Economy
"Every assignment is an act of trust. Complete it with care, and the Village will do the same for your books. And if something unexpected happens, your good faith will make the difference."
