🔄 Promotions vs. Assignments: Two Sides of the Same Coin
📌 Promotions → These are the requests you activate to receive reviews for your books.
📌 Assignments → These are other members’ books that you reserve to contribute with a review.
Every time you book an Assignment, you’re helping another author build their book’s social proof. When you activate a Promotion, the community does the same for you.
🏷️ Available Types
📘 1. Standard Unverified
✅ The author uploads the digital format of their book (PDF, ePub, MOBI) directly to BookVillage.
✅ The file is provided to the reader who books the Assignment to read and review.
📌 The review will be non-verified on Amazon.
📢 These reviews will never have the “Verified Purchase” badge and may not always appear among the book’s top reviews.
📚 2. Kindle Unlimited
✅ The reader reads the book using their Kindle Unlimited subscription.
📌 The review will usually be non-verified.
📌 Only about 20–30% of these reviews receive the “Verified Purchase” badge (depends on whether the book is read on an official Amazon device like Kindle or Fire Tablet).
🎁 3. Verified Purchase – Free Promo
✅ The author schedules free promo days from their KDP account (Amazon allows up to 5 free promo days every 90 days).
✅ BookVillage coordinates the timing so readers can book Assignments during those days.
📌 Reviews received will always carry the “Verified Purchase” badge.
📢 This method offers flexibility but requires the author to manage the free promo schedule.
💳 4. Verified Purchase – $0.99
✅ The reader purchases the book on Amazon at a minimum price of $0.99.
📌 The review will always be verified.
📌 This ensures greater authenticity in the eyes of Amazon and readers.
💳 5. Verified Purchase – $2.99
✅ The reader purchases the book on Amazon at a price of $2.99.
📌 Here too, the review is always verified and carries even more weight within the BookVillage system.
✅ Why Do We Recommend Verified Purchase?
📢 BookVillage always recommends Verified Purchase ($0.99 and $2.99):
💳 Using a credit/debit card, even for small amounts, simulates authentic buying behavior that:
✅ Makes reviews more stable in Amazon’s eyes
✅ Reduces the risk of reviewer account blocks
✅ Ensures reviews count toward the book’s global rating
🌎 Cross-Marketplace Advantage
📢 Verified Purchase reviews are visible in your book’s overall rating regardless of which Amazon marketplace they were posted on.
📌 Example:
If a reader in the UK leaves a Verified Purchase review on amazon.co.uk, that review also contributes to the overall star rating visible on amazon.com.
⚠️ A Warning for Reviewers
Even with honest reviews, Amazon can still block an account if it detects unusual patterns (especially with non-verified reviews).
💡 Verified Purchase reviews are much safer.
